Over the Weekend: Oct. 21-23, 2011

Friday

Not a typical Friday evening for us, but after work we ran some errands: shopping downtown and then grocery shopping for the week. It was nice to get it out of the way!

Look at that cute pregnant belly...

Saturday

I was honored to be invited to attend the Iowa Hawkeye Homecoming game with my buddy Tommy. A nice guy from his work gave him tickets. It turned out to be an awesome day at Kinnick Stadium. We rode the Hawkeye Express into town, which was a new experience for me. A Hawkeye victory was the perfect end to an awesome experience.

All aboard!!!

Warm ups

Celebration after Marvin McNutt Jr. broke the all time Hawkeye touchdown reception record!!

Taking in the experience. Those smiles mean victory was ours!

By the way, the Hawkeyes are 6-0 when I'm in attendance--just sayin'...

A big thanks to our wives for letting us have this awesome man-time. Especially Missy, for staying home with the triplets!

After the trek home, we attended church and then grabbed some hot eats and cool treats.

I told Kels I got a sunburn at the game and when she asked where, I said "this half of my face."

The combination of being up before the sun and then sitting in the sun for 3+ hours makes me say silly things.

After supper  it was time for bed. I had the urge to read to our baby. One of the weekly emails I get with baby updates tells me that the little stinker can hear us talking now, so I read it "Hop on Pop." I have never actually read that Dr. Seuss book before. It's weird.

I had a really stressful week at work last week, so this page hit home, "Sad Dad Had a Bad Day." Kels says it even looks like me.

Sunday

Let the holidays begin!! We celebrated Christmas on my mom's side because my grandparents are leaving for Texas on Thursday. The will be there until April! We took the opportunity to take some family photos...

Then we had a grab bag gift exchange and an ugly sweater contest. Luckily my sister had a vest she let me borrow. There were many laughs and great time had by all.

We also passed around a white board and everyone guessed what our baby would be, when it would be born, how much it will weigh and what name we might come up with. My grandpa and grandma think it's a boy, as well as the majority of you who have voted (there's still time if you haven't...see the poll in the sidebar on the right). We find out this Friday what we are having!!! Can't wait to share the news with you all.

It was then time to head for home. We watched a beautiful sunset all the way home.

Hope you had a fabulous weekend! And three cheers to an awesome week coming up!!
