Over the Weekend: Dec. 16-18, 2011

Friday

It was ugly Christmas sweater day at work. Awkward family photos of that coming later...

After work we headed north to Mason City for our Christmas weekend tradition with my dad, step-mom and siblings. We chit-chatted, ate pizza and watched Elf on TV (my third viewing this week...not complaining).

Saturday

Surprisingly we weren't awoken by my nephew at the crack of dawn to open presents. We slept in until around 8 and staked out our places on the couch for the shredding of wrapping paper and opening of treasures from each other.

We got our nephew the coolest Lego organizer in the universe. You put all your random Lego pieces in and then shake it and it sorts them out into different sized pieces. Pretty awesome.

Didn't realize till after we opened all of our gifts, that nearly all of them made up a parenting survival kit of sorts. My favorite was a latte maker, but as you can see from the picture above, we have a lot of reading to do.

After all the presents were opened, there was a special gift for the three kids and their significant others--remote-controlled helicopters. This is my "Red Ryder BB Gun!" I had a blast learning how to fly this little guy and even navigated one successful landing on the ceiling fan blade. I tried about a hundred more times and couldn't repeat my first attempt.

We headed out to the mall and a few other shops to finish up the last of our Christmas shopping. Then the rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing and playing with all of our new stuff/reading.

Supper with a few more family members that stopped over. Aunt Linda always has something for the kids...and our little girl got a few cute outfits.

The annual siblings photo + Kaleb + baby W. It wasn't easy being the middle child and only boy...

The rest of the evening was spent playing cards, enjoying conversation and lots of laughter.

Sunday

It was a relaxing morning before packing up and heading for home around 11. We stopped by the Smiths to pick up our crib that we bought from them amongst many other baby goodies. We're all set to put our nursery together on our Christmas break coming up.

Sunday evening was our church's annual Christmas Cantata program. I was really digging the the silhouette of Bethlehem that our stage crew put together.

How was your weekend? What are you most looking forward to this week? For me...four-day work week!!!!
